Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the league office.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their statement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
